2010 Robotics Park
Comes to the Martin Middle School in East Providence, RI
Saturday, April 10, 2010

The 18th Annual Robotic Demonstration and Exhibition will Engage Hundreds of Rhode Island Students in Designing, Building, and Exhibiting their Creations at the Largest K-12 Robotics Event in the Rhode Island.

East Providence , RI - RISF (Rhode Island School of the Future) a RI non-profit organization dedicated to increasing/improving technological fluency and science in the schools, again brings its 2010 ROBOTICS PARK Event to Martin Middle School in East Providence, RI

RI Robotics Park, the annual exhibition of the work of the Rhode Island School of the Future Project, will take place at Martin Middle School , on Saturday, April 10, from 10:30 am until 3:00 pm. Hundreds of RI students will be demonstrating robots they have built in their classrooms. You will see America's future workforce working in teams, applying technology, and practicing a range of other essential skills; all necessary for the 21st century. Touring the park is open to the public and free of charge.

Robotic Park is the culminating event for numerous Rhode Island classrooms that are engaged in robotics design activities using robotics-based educational technologies originally developed at MIT. This event, our largest student event of the year is held during April (National Science and Technology month) and gives students a wonderful opportunity to present what they have created and what they have learned to a real audience.

The Park has both an exhibition component and a competition component. Events include:
" Robotic Animals in their environments,
" Interactive robotic designs,
" Chain Reaction Machines (similar to Rube Goldberg designs),

" Robotic Feeding Frenzy,
and the
" Robotics Float Parade

More details about the Robotics Park event can be found at the RISF web site https://risf.net/RoboPark.htm.

What is the RISF? RISF is a RI non-profit organization dedicated to increasing/improving technological fluency and science in the schools. The RISF is an all-volunteer organization comprised of educators and business people. The goal of the RISF is to provide opportunities for students to act like real writers, real scientists, real mathematicians, and real designers, and to develop lifelong learning skills as well as technological fluency through their involvement in robotics design. The Rhode Island School of the Future has piloted robotic design activities for over 18 years in numerous RI classrooms and has adapted concepts from MIT's graduate course in total quality design.
Silver level sponsors include Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, Providence Section (IEEE), Lush Group Inc.. Please refer to the RISF website for additional information and links to these and other sponsoring companies.
