Rhode Island Students of the Future was founded in 1989 to engage students in hands-on STEAM learning through robotics. In partnership with schools, community organizations and individuals who manage robotics teams or clubs, we manage the FIRST LEGO League EXPLORE, DISCOVER and CHALLENGE programs for youth age 4-14.
We provide the scaffolding for a season of programming and activities, offering training for teachers and informal educators and managing tournaments and competitions. We support coaches in schools, community organizations, neighborhoods and homes who work directly with the teams of students.
The FIRST LEGO League is a global youth development program that builds kids' confidence, life skills and understanding of science, technology, engineering and math. Founded by inventory Dean Kamen, FIRST LEGO League provides children an opportunity to build and program robots while solving community problems.
